Chickpea Tostadas

These Chickpea Tostadas contain minimal ingredients but pack in maximal flavour and nutrition. They are the perfect base for sweet or savoury toppings and can be dressed up in a variety of ways.

Chickpeas are naturally rich in fibre. Together with CanPrev’s Fibre Feel, these hors d’oeuvres can help nourish your gut microbes and support healthy digestion. They’re a great alternative to corn-based tostadas and you’ll find you’re satisfied for hours.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • ½ cup warm water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Avocado oil for frying
  • 2 scoops Fibre Feel

Optional Toppings:

  • Peanut butter + banana + honey
  • Cottage cheese + figs + blueberries
  • Avocado + smoked salmon
  • Tomato + cream cheese
  • Hummus + pickled carrot

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients to form a dough.
  2. Divide dough into 10 portions, and roll into balls.
  3. With your palms, flatten the dough into slim discs – about ¼ inch thick.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat, add tostada and fry on each side for about 2 minutes until golden.
  5. Allow tostadas to cool before garnishing with your favourite toppings.
